1>> How do you think VR is different from working in other media?
I think Michael Abrash answered that question best when he said that VR is the only medium that you can represent all other media in. So you can have music in VR, you can have film in VR, you can have a book in VR. But none of those other media can have VR within it. So in a sense it’s the kind of meta medium that can encompass all others. And with that, there’s a huge amount of freedom to do what you want. But there’s also a lot of kind of rope to hang yourself with. So that’s how it’s different I’d say, it’s close enough to our reality that it can encompass all other media.
2 Expert at IEEE is great, shared great project and insights from the top conference.
3. WEEK PLAN: Make a plan at the beginning of a week, then pitch my idea to a peer.
My project is about how people could live in the body of a whale and experience a fantacy journey in under water world.
The reason why it suits for VR is that VR is the only media could provide the immersion that let people enjoy the embodiment transformation. I also design a story for the game user, they could live in the body of Otto, a blue whale in Australia, and use his eyes to explore what happened in Otto’s life.
I have done some CG content for this project and want to move it to VR.
1. Blender// export model to unity
2. Unity// build the first scene
3. Design the Avatar( body of a whale)
4. Prototype test, connect with Oculus Quest
